Are you in, Are you close or have you been to Pergamum?

Below is a brief study of one particular letter among the 7 Churches in Asia Minor. It was given to the apostle John who was at the time, imprisoned on the Isle of Patmos, an island off the coast of Greece. A messenger (Holy Angel), dictated to the Apostle John, exactly what the Lord Jesus Christ was speaking. His word is intended for the believer in or near to the church of Pergamum. this word is revealed by Jesus Christ. The word (letter), spoken by Jesus Christ, through the messenger angel and written by Apostle John was given to the Church in Pergamum. This letter is found in Revelation 2: 12-17.

Who, What, When, Where, How, and Why? Read each verse and ask these questions after reading each verse below. Using this method of study one can gain comprehension of its literal meaning. Prior to studying, seek the Holy Spirit to help you gain understanding in HIS leading you in your study. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you for gaining knowledge and wisdom in your study. Message to Pergamum Rev 2:12 ¶And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges;

who is the angel, what is this angel's job?, where is this angel?---where is this church, what environment or society is this church residing in or among? what is the purpose of this particular church? who are the members of this church? when did this church exist and does it still exist? why this particular church? what was this church doing or what was this church like? How did it become a "church?" ----list all of the things or (subjects) that "he" speaks of. In other words, what are the various subject matters that "he" addresses in the letter? ----Who is he? Why is he described as having the sharp sword with two edges? What does that phrase mean or represent?----

Rev 2:13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

Rev 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumbling-block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

Rev 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.

Rev 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Rev 2:17 ¶He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
